Dermalize “D-Lize” Pro Aftercare

always remember, if you are unsure about how your tattoo is healing or if you have any questions about your tattoo and healing always reach out and email or call us at the shop!

Step 1: Keep the bandage on!

You want to leave the bandage on for at least 36 to 72 hours (or 2 – 3 days). It is common to have blood and plasma build-up fluid under the bandage which is completely normal. It may look like a “mud puddle”, as I call it. This build-up is essential for your tattoo so that it can heal within the bandage. Don’t worry nothing will get in or out, so long as your bandage is on securely around the edges. If your bandage is wanting to come off early, meaning the edges are lifting off your skin or peeling off a bit, you’ll want to try and keep it on for at LEAST 36 hours.

Note: If your skin or tattoo is extremely red within less than 36 hours of your bandage see the instructions down below!!!

Step 2: First, take off your bandage in the shower! Then wash it!

Hop in the shower with warm water. The temperature should be comfortable enough temperature to rinse your tattoo and liquid anti-bacterial soap. Make sure to wash your hands before you carefully take off the film on your tattoo. The trick is to take your time and go slow. Using water and soap to help life and peel the film off your tattoo all while cleaning it. Once it’s off use plenty of soap to clean your tattoo.

Note: If there’s still glue from the film on your tattoo; don’t try to scratch it off or use a sponge to get it off. Use Hustle Butter Deluxe or coconut butter to get it off.

Step 3: Dry with clean paper towels and keep it dry!

Pat your tattoo dry with clean paper towels, and let it dry for 10-15 mins. If it’s still weeping blood or plasma, then wash it one more time and pat dry your tattoo again for an additional 15-20 minutes. Next, you want to keep your tattoo dry for at least 2 days. This way bacteria can’t form on your tattoo since it is a dry environment. Remember, it is important to keep showers short. Lastly, try not to use any bar soap or shampoo in your tattoo!

Step 4: Now to Moisturize!

On day 4 or 5, (depending on when you took off your bandage- 36 or 72 hours) you can start using lotion or ointment. I always recommend Hustle Butter Deluxe. Cover the tattoo in a small amount, around 2-3 times a day. Keep applying until day 10, then you’re all set!!! 😊

if you notice

any redness or a possible reaction to the bndage

  • pain that lasts or gets worse after 24 hours

  • If your skin turns really red, or swells up, or is really painful

  • heat coming off the tattoo

  • or just very uncomfortable to have one

-       Then remove the film and wash it as soon as you can, after that you want to keep it dry and don’t put anything on it!

If your tattoo continues to get worse in pain, swelling, redness, or anything else listed up above. Then please talk to a doctor and make sure that it is not an allergic reaction to the adhesive bandage.
